Safety and Security Council

St. Columbkille has established a new council within the parish. The Safety and Security Council (SSC) is a designated group of St. Columbkille parishioners with the responsibility to address current safety and security issues within the school and church. Any issues are addressed and resolved with the visibility and approval of the pastor and administration.

The mission of the council is to look at modern day security and safety concerns and address them with modern solutions. These concerns can range from new security cameras, updates to the first aid kits, proactively adding trauma kits to multiple locations, physical security of the school and church, modern security-type training by appropriate professionals, first-aid style training, and other topics or concerns that should be addressed.

The council will meet regularly. They will hold quarterly “open floor” style meetings for questions and answers. All parish members are encouraged to attend these meetings. Please check the parish calendar for those dates. Copies of minutes approved by the council will be available on the parish website for public review.

The council currently consists of the following members: Father Dave Reeson, Brian Cerny, Wendy Squarcia, Charlotte Stuhr, and Matt Ferro. We are looking to add three more members to the SSC with backgrounds in law enforcement and EMT/trauma/combat medicine.

In addition, the Council is looking for a member within the parish that is simply interested in helping to improve the safety and security of our parish and school. If you are interested in being a member of the council, please contact Brian Cerny at 402.981.4862 / briancerny1@gmail.com or Wendy Squarcia at 402.740.0410 /wjmiller11@hotmail.com.

We will have each person submit a one-page biography telling us about yourself: – profession, how long you have been with the parish, do you have kids in the school, applicable formal training, and any other information you want to provide to help us choose you from the pool of applicants. Applicant bios are due no later than July 25th to Brian or Wendy. Thank you!
