Reeson’s Rambling :: August 6, 2017
News of an addition to our staff – I’m thrilled to announce that we’ve hired Tess Sousek as our Director of Communications. This is a new position that will help us to more effectively develop our message of stewardship, based in love and a recognition that our many blessings are gifts from God that we should share with others. Tess is a Nebraska native who comes from a family of 15 children, and her great faith, multimedia experience, and ability to connect with others make her an invaluable addition to our staff.
Tess has a journalism degree from UNL, has been a writer for the diocesan newspaper in Lincoln, and is skilled with videography and photography. She was on the UNL Newman Center’s Advisory Board as its Video/Media Chair, and served with Teens Encounter Christ retreats, ENDOW groups for middle school girls, and a variety of Catholic summer camps.
She and her husband are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first child in October. She is excited to live out her vocation of sharing goodness, beauty, and truth with the world through her work at St. Columbkille. She just began her new duties on August 1st. Please help me to welcome Tess to our parish staff.
On another note, I want to acknowledge and thank seminarian Logan Hepp who was with us for a two month internship. He hit the ground running. He visited people in hospitals and nursing homes. He worked in the community garden and helped to beautify our grounds. Logan was active in Vacation Bible School and our Summer Religious Education program. He worked the registration and welcome tables for our photo directory. He participated with our youth group in several service projects and attended more meetings than me.
I don’t think Logan is God, but like God, he seemed to be everywhere! I hope you will all join me in praying for Logan as he continues his seminary formation. If it is God’s will, in only 5 years he will be ordained. I would be delighted if Fr. Pat Nields would remain at St. Columbkille for many years until he’s replaced by the future Fr. Logan!
Finally, thanks to all who participated in the photo shoots for our new parish photo directory. We had a fantastic turnout, and one Lifetouch representative said that, in his 17 years in the business, he’s never seen an appointment list as heavily booked up as ours was.
For those who participated, we’ll be distributing your free 8×10 and directory within the next few weeks. And if you didn’t get a chance to be photographed this time around, please know that you’ll have another opportunity when we update our directory in about a year. More to follow!
