Reeson’s Ramblings :: September 24, 2017
For some people, volunteering is about giving. For the people of St. Columbkille who were involved in the Parish Fun Festival, it is a way of living. Thanks for being good stewards of the gifts that God has given you. If I were to acknowledge everyone that was involved in making our festival a success we would need another special edition of the bulletin. I would however like to express thanks a few of the key players.
Thank you to Daniela Kueper, who organized the entire festival and spent countless hours making sure we would have a great day for our families.
Thanks to Dan Gryzwa for his wonderful work at the grill, and to his wife, Michelle, for helping with preparations. Thanks to the whole team who came in starting on Thursday to prepare the sauerkraut and peppers.
Thank you to Gwyn Jarett who took charge of the kitchen downstairs for her many years of service. Thanks to all those who cooked, grilled, fried, and prepared our delicious food. Thank you to Chris and Darleene Evitch for donating stew for downstairs.
Thanks to Bill McKay for setting up and securing the tents and making sure everything was taken down properly. Thank you to Bill Heese and Susan Winkelmann for picking up all of the items that we ordered and cleaning the church to be ready for the week ahead. Thanks to Dee Iske and the Women’s Guild for organizing the Bake Sale and Cake Walk, and also for helping to hire some of the performers.
Thank you to the Knights of Columbus for making the Italian sausages and brats for grilling and the sausages for the meat wheel. Thanks to Gretchen Reid for organizing and recruiting all those at our Health Fair, and also for coordinating a few of our church performance groups. Thank you to Margaret White for her countless hours of support and working all day to check in volunteers.
Thanks to Jim Edwards and his crew for handling the money. Thank you to Mike Anthofer for organizing the great inflatables and the train, which is always a hit. Thanks to Catherine Reid-Elizondo for painting faces all day long, and to Nicole Cook and the Religious Education students who helped to run the photo booth.
Thank you to Eileen Kolbo for helping with set-up and tear-down and recruiting help from the Boy Scouts. Thanks to the Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts, and the American Heritage Girls for running their booths at the festival. Thank you to the Ferro family for running and donating items to sell cotton candy and sno-cones. Thanks to Susanne Draper for helping wherever needed and making sure everything is organized for next year. Thanks to Debbie Armentrout for her help with financials and licensing.
Thank you to Elizabeth Butler, who was instrumental in securing our liquor license. Thank you to Angela Bousquet for her advising and knowledge from past years. Thanks to Ben Robles for organizing and counting raffle tickets.
Thank you to all of our wonderful entertainers: the Stepperettes, Champion Sports Karate, Kids in Motion Dance, St. Columbkille Youth Choir, Tai Chi, Line Dancing, and Dave Radliff and the band.
A big thanks to all of the countless volunteers who served, set up, broke down, packed up, cleaned up, and helped throughout the day. Thanks to all who donated stuffed animals, pop, glassware, plants, and baked goods.
Most of all, thank YOU, parishioners, for coming together for a day of fellowship and community. I’m looking forward to next year’s festival, already!
