Reeson’s Ramblings :: January 21, 2018
I was once told that I have the kind of personality to brighten any room. All I have to do is leave the room. Ouch!
The fact is I delight in spending time with our parishioners, and one of my favorite ways to do that is to celebrate with all of you at our annual Ceili coming up on March 3rd! If you’re unfamiliar with this event, then you’re in for a treat. St. Columbkille was an Irish priest who was one of the first missionaries to Scotland, and Ceili, which is pronounced “kay-lee,” is the Gaelic word for party. What better way to celebrate our parish heritage and honor our patron saint than to throw an Irish party!
This is a night full of friendship and camaraderie with our parish friends and family, and a wonderful way to meet new families and friends in our community. There’s both a silent and a live auction, a wonderful dinner, and the funds we raise help to support the various ministries and needs of our parish. The dinner the last two years has been so delicious that following the Ceili, I’ve had to spend some time with my old girlfriend, “Jenny Craig”.
Each year, we honor special people with the “Spirit of St. Columbkille” award. We have so many people who do so much for the parish, and it’s good for us to recognize the way God works through others and thank them for all that they do in His name. It’s easy to forget that we all follow the example of St. Columbkille when we answer God’s call to “go and make disciples”!
Last year, we had a record 509 guests attend Ceili, and we hope to see even more this time around!
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN UPDATES:
What a great turnout! Last Tuesday night (Jan 16), we had over 200 parishioners attend our campaign kickoff. It was inspiring to see so many of you connect with new parish friends and collaborate to shape this campaign and our future together. Thank you!
In utilizing your talents, this group will create great things for the campaign and our parish. There’s still time to join one of these teams: Prayer, Events, Thanks, Youth, Ambassadors, Communications. To do so, please call Judy in the parish office at 402-339-3285 and she will connect you with the leaders of your team.
